Paaspop

When I was sixteen, my bedroom wall was plastered with band posters. I’d work evenings, weekends and school holidays for minimum wages to get some money, which I’d then spend on music.
Magazines, cd’s, records, tapes (back in those days you’d give your friend a tape, and he’d copy his tape for you. It’s like file sharing now, but without a computer). You wouldn’t catch me anywhere without my headphones glued to my ears.
All I cared about was music.

Whenver I’d be in my bedroom jamming along to all those great albums, I’d always think about how cool it must be to be in a band, write songs together, record them and play them in front of an audience. An audience that would maybe even sing along occasionally, and be happy to see you, and actually buy your shirts and cd’s.
I’m very lucky to have four amazing friends that grew up just like that.
The five of us played music in bands. Did shows, had fun, and eventually those bands broke up. We didn’t even know eachother back then.
Except me and Wouter. Eventually we found eachother, and we became really close friends. Shared a passion for music. And we got along. Really well.
We started writing songs, started to play shows, did some amazing supports and eventually recorded an album (Midnight Arsons/Morning Ghosts) of which we are still to this day extremely proud.
Ever since it came out last June, we’ve been doing some really cool shows, and getting amazing reviews.
Makes you think back about being that spotty teenager with the beat-up guitar, jamming along to Bad Religion and Green Days songs. Today I can add something else to the list that I’ve always dreamt of.
I’ve been going to bigger festivals for as longs as I can remember. The last few years with my Note to Amy friends. And every time I’m at one of these festivals, sitting on the grass, beer in my hand, sun on my face and listening to music, I think the same. “I’d love to play on a big stage like this one day”.

Well. Today we are extremely proud to announce that this year we’ll be playing on Paaspop.
An amazing festival in Schijndel, that draws over 40,000 people. Not bad for five boys that share a passion for music huh. So we’re super stoked, and we hope to see many of you out there on April 7th, to share this with us. We’ll rock as hard as we can, and after that we’ll have a beer with every single one of you.
That’s a promise. And our way to thank all of you for your support!

Eelco, on behalf of all of us.

Going south!

Poster for the Barcelona showWe are very happy and proud to share some great news with you all.
In March Note to Amy will head to Spain to perform three shows with the Basque band Berri Txarrak. The band just released its latest album “Haria” on Roadrunner Spain, which is in the Spanish album charts as we speak.

Some of you might have heard of these guys when they did a European tour with Rise Against and A Wilhelm Scream. Maybe you’ve even seen ‘m live in one of the shows they’ve played all over the world during the last couple of years.
Or maybe you’ve heard their other albums, which were produced by icons like Ross Robinson and Steve Albini. Or maybe you’ve heard some of the tracks that featured Tim McIlrath of Rise Against.
Anyway, you get our drift. We are extremely excited about this great opportunity, and we can’t wait to play in front of their fans, and turn it into a true Note to Amy party.

The following shows with Berri Txarrak have been confirmed:

Sat – March 10 – Sala Apollo - Barcelona
Fri – March 16 – Sala Totem – Atarrabia
Sat – March 17 –  Sala López – Zaragoza

If you are able to help us find a show somewhere between the 11th and 15th, or if you have any hints or great advise, please get in touch. It’s hugely appreciated.

Be sure to check out Berri Txarrak. You can find their music on Spotify.
